Salto Gymnastics & Trampolining – Competitive Trampolining Programme

Our competitive trampolining programme is designed for talented gymnasts who are willing to dedicate time and effort to a higher level of training.  Gymnasts are selected by coaches to enter this level.

When people think of trampolining, the first thing to come to mind for many is probably the garden trampoline.  However, competitive trampolining is a highly technical sport competed right up to Olympic level. Trampolining is probably one of the most exhilarating sports there is!  The gymnasts first learn how to perform simple skills and maintain their rhythm. Then, as their skills and confidence grow, they build up to some incredible moves.

Salto Cork is one of the leading trampoline gymnastics clubs in the country.  Our competitive gymnasts take part in the Gymnastics Ireland national event series (individually, in pairs and in teams). We have had many National Champions over the years. Four of our gymnasts are current members of the Gymnastics Ireland National Squad (Club Development Squad).

We aim to create peer groups based on age and ability and to develop a friendly, supportive environment with the potential for great friendships to form through shared experiences.

CURRENT MEMBERS

Over 600 gymnasts currently attend weekly classes at Salto Gymnastics & Trampolining (making it one of the biggest, if not the biggest, sports club in East Cork). Our classes are fully booked so please don’t ask to swap your child to another class, it just isn’t possible. To allow the gymnasts to enjoy their class, we need sufficient space and coaches. Our aim is to coach our members towards their full potential in a safe, fun & progressive gymnastics environment.

The 30-minute classes (gymable & special Olympics), the 1-hour classes (rec & trampoline only) and the 1.5-hour classes (teen & rec+) will not run over the summer break. Information will be sent by email in May regarding booking your child in for September 2024. The trampoline development group will train over the summer, more information about this will be provided closer to the time. The display team may also train over the summer.

Club kit won’t be available to buy again until September 2024 (aside from what’s available on the Club Shop: Shop – Salto Gymnastics & Trampolining (saltocork.ie)).

Our Annual Club Competition takes place on Sunday 25th February 2024

All gymnasts who take part in our Rec classes, Rec+ classes, Teen classes, Trampoline only classes and Trampoline Development Group are welcome to take part.  Family and friends are welcome to come along to watch their gymnast perform.

The gymnasts will be required to do a floor routine and a vault (information is attached to this email). The scores from both will be added together to give the gymnasts final score. There will be trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd and all other competitors will receive a participation medal.

We cannot provide information about the actual times the different aged gymnasts will be competing until after the entries have been received (so please don’t ask!!). We will probably start at 10am and it will probably run until about 4pm. The gymnasts will only be required to come for 60-90 minutes (for example, it might be 2nd class at 2.00-3.15pm).

The gymnasts will be required to wear the following:

  • Girls: Leotard (and shorts/leggings if the gymnast wishes to wear them) OR plain shorts/leggings and fitted t-shirt. Boys: Leotard and shorts OR plain shorts & fitted t-shirt.
  • Gym shoes are permitted. Otherwise, gymnasts should be in bare feet.
  • No jewellery, hair tied up neatly and securely.

Entries will only be accepted online using this link: CLUB Competition / GI Events – Salto Gymnastics & Trampolining (saltocork.ie)

Please note the following:

  • The entry fee is €15 per child and it is strictly non-refundable.
  • Payments will be done through Stripe (rather than LoveAdmin).
  • Entries will be accepted until Sunday 4th February.
  • On Monday 5th February we will be working on the competition schedule and ordering medals/trophies so we can’t add anyone in after Sunday 4th February.

There will be plenty of friendly faces on the day. The coaches will be on hand on the day to help the gymnasts (they can call out the routine if necessary, however it would be better if the gymnasts could learn the routine). The coaches will also be the judges on the day. We’re looking forward to a great day!

Email sent to parents 23/1/24

All classes are now fully booked

Many people logged on to our system at 9am this morning and the system couldn’t cope.

We are manually going through all of the applications received and will email everyone today to let them know whether their child has a place or not.

We aren’t taking any more applications for the September classes.

We weren’t going to have enough places for everyone who was hoping to get in. I’m sorry that some children will be disappointed. Some places will come up during the year.

We will have to look at how we accept applications because this has been a nightmare. Someone was comparing it to trying to get Taylor Swift tickets!

Update re. Spaces for New Members to Join Salto Gymnastics in September 2023

Update 9:17am 02.08.23 THE BOOKING SYSTEM DOESN’T SEEM TO BE WORKING CORRECTLY, I’M SORRY, I’M TRYING TO RESOLVE IT.

Bookings can be made via this link:

https://app.loveadmin.com/ThirdpartyRegistration.aspx…

Each class will have to be made “live” individually. I will start doing this at 9am on Wednesday 2nd August 2023. Classes will disappear from the list when they become fully booked.

Unfortunately, not everyone hoping to book their child in will be successful and I’m sorry about that. 600 children and teenagers attend our classes each week. We’re not in a position to expand any further at the moment.

Please don’t try to contact us by phone or social media as we won’t be able to deal with queries this way. We will respond to queries by email to info@saltocork.ie (this might take some time though as it is likely to be very busy).

Regards,

Mary Morrissey

At the end of another great year

At the end of another great year, I would like to say a huge thank you to the coaching team and the junior leaders for all they have done for our gymnasts. Along with teaching skills, they encourage and support our gymnasts, prepare them for events and have lots of fun along the way.
