On Saturday 30th November & Sunday 1st December 2024, the GymSTART Floor & Vault Competition will take place in the Sports Arena at the University of Limerick. The entry fee is €65.

Gymnasts who are in 1st class or over in our recreational, Rec+ and Teen classes are welcome to compete if the coach agrees that they are able. Tryouts will take place at Salto Gymnastics on Sunday 29th September (times will be confirmed when we know how many are interested in competing).

Extra training for the competitors will take place for 8 weeks (on Sunday mornings – 6, 13, 20, 27 October and 3, 10, 17, 24 November). The training fee will be €130 per gymnast.

There are about 30 places available which will be offered to children on the waiting list over the next couple of days. (252 children have now been registered on the waiting list).

Dates for your Diary

Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September 2024: Northern European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in the National Indoor Arena, Blanchardstown, Dublin. This 12 nation men’s & women’s international event is the first podium level international gymnastics event to be hosted in Ireland. Competing nations include Denmark, England, Faroe Islands, Finland, Iceland, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Norway, Scotland, Sweden, Wales and of course, the home team, Ireland. Sunday 16th February 2025 (date subject to change): Salto Gymnastics Club Competition (Floor & Vault). Our club competition will take place at Salto Gymnastics and is open to all members of the club. Even the junior infants! More information will be provided about this after Christmas.

In 2023/24, over 600 gymnasts attended weekly classes at Salto Gymnastics & Trampolining (making it one of the biggest, if not the biggest, sports club in East Cork). Our aim is to coach our members towards their full potential in a safe, fun & progressive gymnastics environment. To allow the gymnasts to enjoy their class, we need sufficient space and coaches. The gymnasts who attended classes in 2023/24 are given given the first opportunity to book in for 2024/25.

There will be some spaces for new members to join in September 2024. If your child is interested in joining, please add their details to our newly opened waiting list by CLICKING HERE. Please note we won’t be able to offer places to everyone immediately.

Over 600 gymnasts currently attend weekly classes at SALTO GYMNASTICS – making it one of the biggest, if not the biggest, sports club in East Cork. Our aim is to coach our members towards their full potential in a safe, fun & progressive gymnastics environment. SALTO GYMNASTICS was selected as the “Participation Club of the Year 2023” by GYMNASTICS IRELAND.

RECREATIONAL CLASSES

The vast majority of our gymnasts are in primary school and they attend a one-hour class each week. We aim to provide fun and creative classes that improve the gymnasts’ coordination, strength, flexibility, fitness, and gymnastics & trampolining skills.

The recreational gymnasts have opportunities to compete in club events and participate in the Gymnastics Ireland GymStart Award Scheme. We also offer our recreational gymnasts the opportunity to compete at Gymnastics Ireland Events such as GymStart, JumpStart and The Floor.

Our classes for teenagers are a great opportunity to get exercise and learn new skills while socialising at the same time.

COMPETITIVE TRAMPOLINING  

Salto Gymnastics is one of the leading trampoline gymnastics clubs in the country.  Our competitive gymnasts take part in the Gymnastics Ireland national event series. We have had many National Champions over the years. Five of our gymnasts have been selected for the National Squad (Club Development Squad) for 2024.

We aim to create peer groups based on age and ability and to develop a friendly, supportive environment with the potential for great friendships to form through shared experiences. Gymnasts are selected by the coaches to take part in this programme. About 30 gymnasts are currently involved.

GYMABLE & SPECIAL OLYMPICS CLASSES

Our inclusion classes are for children with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. We have been running these classes since 2019 when we were selected to do so by Gymnastics Ireland.

Gymnastics can be adapted to be inclusive for everyone regardless of ability. The aim of these classes is to encourage children to improve their balance, coordination and movement and to learn new skills in a fun and relaxed environment. The classes also offer a social experience for children and their parents. 

Our summer camps run on the following dates:

CAMP 1: Monday 1st – Friday 5th July

CAMP 2: Monday 8th – Friday 12th July

CAMP 3: Monday 5th – Friday 19th July

CAMP 4: Monday 22nd – Friday 26th July

CAMP 5: Monday 12th – Friday 16th August

CAMP 6: Monday 19th – Friday 23rd August

At the beginning of August, information will be published about the availability of places for new members. Please don’t send emails asking for information as you will not receive a response. As soon as information is available, it will be published on our website www.saltocork.ie.

Our summer camps are open to girls and boys aged 5 to 12 years. Non-members are also welcome to attend our summer camps.

Our summer camps will take place on the following dates:

• CAMP 1: Mon 1^st – Fri 5^th July (5 days), 9am-2pm daily, open to girls & boys age 5-12 years **FULLY BOOKED**

• CAMP 5: Mon 12^th – Fri 16^th August (5 days), 9am-2pm daily, open to girls & boys age 5-12 years **FULLY BOOKED**

Cost: €190 (€50 on booking, €140 in June)

The children will have the opportunity to improve their current skills and to learn new skills. The coaches are planning lots of great activities for the gymnasts so it should be a fun filled week.

Please keep in mind that the camp environment will be very busy and may not suit all children. The camps won’t be suitable for children who require one-to-one attention. Our priority will be the safety of all of the children. If a child cannot behave in an appropriate manner on day 1, they will not be permitted to continue the camp for the rest of the week.

Salto Gymnastics & Trampolining | Units 9 & 8, Ballinacurra Business Park, Midleton, Co Cork

There are some spaces in our competitive trampolining programme for girls and boys in the following age groups:

– age 5-7 years old (born 2017-2019)
– age 8-10 years old (born 2014-2016)
– age 11-13 years old (born 2011-2013)

TRY-OUTS WILL TAKE PLACE ON SUNDAY 16TH JUNE 2024 AT SALTO GYMNASTICS. 
(Exact times will be given when we know how many will be attending.)

Salto Gymnastics & Trampolining – Competitive Trampolining Programme

Our competitive trampolining programme is designed for talented gymnasts who are willing to dedicate time and effort to a higher level of training.  Gymnasts are selected by coaches to enter this level. 

When people think of trampolining, the first thing to come to mind for many is probably the garden trampoline.  However, competitive trampolining is a highly technical sport competed right up to Olympic level. Trampolining is probably one of the most exhilarating sports there is!  The gymnasts first learn how to perform simple skills and maintain their rhythm. Then, as their skills and confidence grow, they build up to some incredible moves.  

Salto Cork is one of the leading trampoline gymnastics clubs in the country.  Our competitive gymnasts take part in the Gymnastics Ireland national event series (individually, in pairs and in teams). We have had many National Champions over the years. Four of our gymnasts are current members of the Gymnastics Ireland National Squad (Club Development Squad). 

We aim to create peer groups based on age and ability and to develop a friendly, supportive environment with the potential for great friendships to form through shared experiences.

We hope to stick to this schedule as closely as possible. 

Please do not come before your allocated time as gymnasts will not be allowed into the hall any earlier. We will need one group to exit before the next group comes in. If it raining, please wait in your car, there is no need to queue at the door. 

All competitors will receive a participation medal. There will be trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd. 

Competition Attire

• Girls: Leotard (and shorts/leggings if the gymnast wishes to wear them) OR plain shorts/leggings and fitted t-shirt. 
• Boys: Leotard and shorts OR plain shorts & fitted t-shirt.
• There is very little club kit available to buy, please check our online shop if you’re looking to buy something: Shop – Salto Gymnastics & Trampolining (saltocork.ie)
• Gym shoes are permitted. Otherwise gymnasts should be in bare feet. 
• No jewellery, hair tied up neatly and securely.

Family and friends are welcome to come along to watch their gymnast perform.
