About Salto Gymnastics
Salto Gymnastics & Trampolining Club, Cork offers high quality gymnastics and trampolining classes for girls and boys age 5 and over. Salto Cork was established in 1998 by Mary Morrissey and over the years we have taught in many locations in East Cork. We moved into our full-time facility in 2017.
Our equipment includes a 12m x 12m floor area, 2 beams, 3 sets of bars, 4 Olympic standard trampolines, 3 air tracks, vault and more!
We wish to make gymnastics and trampolining accessible to as many people as possible and provide continuing opportunities to those who wish to excel in these sports. We run events during the year providing opportunities for family and friends to see the gymnasts performing.

Why Gymnastics?
Gymnastics is a dynamic and powerful sport. It is considered to be one of the most comprehensive lifestyle exercise programmes available to children. It is a great foundation activity that can improve strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, body awareness, concentration, discipline, and perseverance.
It works the whole body and strengthens the mind no matter the age or level. ‘Whether they are involved in recreational gymnastics or with a competition squad, skills learned in gymnastics can benefit a child’s holistic development’ (Livestrong, 2017).
Our Mission
Our mission is to coach our members toward their full potential in a safe, fun and progressive gymnastics environment.
Our long-term goal is to offer our gymnasts challenges and enjoyment and to help them develop into healthy and well-rounded individuals.
Our Coaches
We have a dedicated team of professional qualified coaches in the club who are all committed to teaching gymnastics and trampolining to all levels and abilities in a safe and fun environment.
All our coaches have completed their safe-guarding training and are Garda vetted. Many of our coaches are former gymnasts and as such have a wealth of knowledge and experience. Our coaches undertake Gymnastics Ireland coaching qualifications and we also do in-house training.
We encourage the coaches undertake continuing professional development and our junior coaches are mentored closely by senior coaches. Some of our coaches are also qualified as judges.
We also run a Junior Leader Programme which we consider the first stop to becoming a gymnastics coach. Junior Leaders are gymnasts (aged 12 and over) who wish to volunteer within the club to help with the younger gymnasts.
Ethics & Welfare
We are affiliated to Gymnastics Ireland, the National Governing Body and are covered by their Public Liability policy. The club adheres to their ‘Code of Ethics & Good Practice for Youth Sport’. This code is based on the Irish Sports Council’s ‘Code of Ethics & Good Practice for Children’s Sport’ and ‘Children First’, the national guidelines for the protection and welfare of children issued by the Department of Health & Children.
